David was an SNP candidate in the May 2012 City of Edinburgh Council elections and is a strong supporter of independence for Scotland. While attending Leith Academy he joined his first band ´Roots´ and played at many Edinburgh venues including the Top Storey Club – where they were followed by a band who became slightly more successful "The Bay City Rollers".

Previously employed as a Works Accountant with Scottish Agricultural Industries Ltd and as a Finance Officer with Edinburgh City Council. He also served as a City Councillor for eight years. Lucky enough to have got early retirement which will give him plenty time to devote to the duties of councillor should he be lucky enough to be elected.

David was part of the successful three year campaign by parents, in the eighties, to Save Hermitage Park primary school in Leith from closure by the then Labour council. This was the main driving force for giving him a real interest in local politics which is still as strong today.

More recently served as Chair of St John's Primary Parent Council for 4 years and is currently a member of Holy Rood High School Parent Council.

Played with country/rock band the ´Screemin Armadillos´ from 2006-8 and appeared on Sunday afternoon´s at Portobello´s Dalriada bar. In his spare time (what´s that?) he is drummer with "up and coming" band 2AM.
